The day after Graduation we had my graduation party for my family and friends. Needless to say, I wanted it to look extra pretty and everything to taste delicious thus my boyfriend and I did everything from decorating to cooking with a bit of help towards the start of the party. I went for almost a sprinkled/ice cream party theme using the table cloth on the kitchen island as the inspiration.
Most of the decor ended up being bunting - no surprise there. I used bunting on two walls around the large table and then above the island on the back of the cabinets. I also used baloons, tablecloths, and flowers. Silly me forgot that balloons don't float if you blow them up yourself. So I ended up finding a Plan C which involved hanging them from the ceiling in three different places including a focal wall behind the tele.
The flowers were picked up in Trader Joe's thanks to my lovely boyfriend. I asked him to use his best judgement then I was going to arrange them into my vases. He chose three hydrangeas, a bunch of pink tulips, and a bunch of white tulips. Then he also brought me a huge bouquet of light pink spray roses for me for graduation and gave them to me early because he didn't want to try to hide them from me for 24 hours. I ended up putting them into the arrangements and I couldn't be happier with how they turned out though the tulips ended up taking on a life of their own and popping out of their original spots.
For the food, we went with the typical food that I like to eat with a bit of British flair. The main dishes were pasties with fillings of Moopie and Spring Chicken from the Pieminister Cookbook - highly recommend if you like meat pies. We also made a herby roasted potato, glazed carrots (hands down the winner of all food), and a salad.
Of course, I had to bake a few items for dessert. I made the Almond Carrot Cake which I made for my sister-in-law's bridal shower almost a year ago and then my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. I will say, I went all the way through the chocolate chip recipe to dolloping the dough onto the pan when I realized that the reason my dough looked weird was because I forgot to add in the flour and baking soda, woops! I ended up fixing them but they weren't nearly as good as usual.
